Northern NSW Football is pleased to announce South Cardiff JFC from Macquarie Football as Newcastle Permanent Club of the Month Winner for July 2020.
South Cardiff JFC was awarded as the winner of the Newcastle Permanent Club of the Month Award due to its significant contribution to the local community.
The club worked tirelessly in a short space of time to provide an opportunity for players and teams to join their club so they could play football in 2020, despite the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, when it seemed they may not have had a place to play.
This equated to an additional 12 teams being able to enjoy football in 2020. The club has also worked hard to upgrade their facility with new irrigation, disability access and lighting to provide a more positive experience for its members.
“South Cardiff JFC have made a significant and valuable contribution to the local community through its successful implementation of helping players and teams get on the park in 2020,” NNSWF Senior Officer Community Football Ross Hicks said.
“We applaud the efforts of South Cardiff JFC’s committee, coaches and players which demonstrate that community is integral to the club’s ethos.”
Newcastle Permanent Charlestown mobile lending manager Rob Stavrevski echoed Hicks’ sentiments and was pleased a local Macquarie club had been rewarded for its efforts.
“The Newcastle Permanent Club of the Month Award recognises clubs that show passion, commitment, dedication and really highlight what it means to be a grassroots, community club – on and off the field,” Stavrevski said.
“Whether it’s the experience provided to players, the activities the club has delivered or just introducing kids to the game of football, we congratulate this month’s Club of the Month winner.”
South Cardiff JFC will receive a $250 First Touch Football Supplies gift voucher thanks to Newcastle Permanent that will allow the club to purchase new equipment to continue its efforts in growing the game in the region.
The Newcastle Permanent Club of the Month Award recognises clubs for their contribution to football on and off the playing field across areas including football experience, club activities, coach, volunteer management and special projects.
