Newcastle Permanent Community Award Winners Announced for August

August 30th, 2019

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) congratulates this month’s Newcastle Permanent Community Award Monthly Winners in Macquarie Football for August.

The awards recognise the hard work and significant time volunteers, coaches and match officials contribute to Australia’s largest team sport.

NNSWF Senior Officer Community Football Ross Hicks said the Newcastle Permanent Community Awards provide an important opportunity to recognise those who make the game what it is today.

“Without this month’s winners, football simply would not be in the position it is, each of these winners has made an outstanding contribution to their clubs and deserve to be recognised,” Hicks said.

“Community Football relies on a collective effort and these awards reflect the appreciation extended to everyone who plays a role in progressing our game.

“I am pleased we are able to thank and acknowledge each of them on behalf of the sport, thanks to the support of our major sponsor, Newcastle Permanent.”

Each of the winners was selected from a number of nominations made by club colleagues and observers of the game.  Each winner receives unique packs from Official Community Football Partner, Newcastle Permanent to help them in their endeavours.

Newcastle Permanent CEO Bernadette Inglis congratulates each of the winners and thanks them for their contribution to the game.

“Newcastle Permanent’s Community Football Awards provide opportunities to recognise volunteers who generously give back to their clubs and communities. It is great to see a local representative being recognised for their ongoing commitment”, Inglis said.

From the pool of monthly winners, Macquarie Football will nominate one winner from each category to represent their Zone for the opportunity to be named “Newcastle Permanent Community Football Winner of the Year” to be announced at NNSWF’s Annual Awards Night in October.

Northern NSW Football, Macquarie Football and Newcastle Permanent congratulate all the recipients for August.

REFEREE OF THE MONTH

Lucas Stace

Lucas is a first year referee who originally only wanted to do the duties of an assistant referee. As his confidence grew he started taking on centre refereeing which he has enjoyed immensely. His enthusiasm and passion for refereeing is evident in his performances each weekend. He constantly makes himself available and is a valuable assistant referee for the senior referees officiating on adult football. He has also had some difficult situations to handle throughout the season but he has overcome these and is now developing into a fine young referee.

VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH

Adam Osborne

Morriset United FC

Adam has been involved with Morisset United most of his life. Playing as a junior, then in seniors, he also now takes on a coaching role for his son’s teams. With a change of guard, Adam took on the treasurer’s role, while continuing to coach, referee and every other role required to run a club. Not only does he devote his time, but also has his family volunteering with him to help Morisset be the successful club it is. Without Adam, Morisset wouldn’t be where we are today. Adam has gone above and beyond in his roles.

COACH OF THE MONTH

John Merrell

Kahibah FC

John has coached our girls team from under 7’s for the past 3 years volunteering his time 2 to 3 times a week. He is very kind and nurturing with the girls and they respect and respond positively to his coaching and encouragement. They have all developed in skill, teamwork and positive sports-womanship and we are all so proud of their achievements. They have grown in football skill and courage through John’s ongoing commitment to the girls and the team.
