Northern NSW Football conduct Australia Cup Southern Conference fourth preliminary round draw

March 30th, 2022

Northern NSW Football conducted the Australia Cup Southern Conference fourth preliminary round draw today.

The draw was broadcast on NNSWF social media channels on Wednesday evening.

NPL Men’s NNSW clubs entered the competition with Lambton Jaffas, Maitland FC, Edgeworth and Broadmeadow Magic seeded.

Reigning NPLM premiers Lambton will travel to Ulinga Oval to face HIT106.9 Northern League One club South Cardiff. The Gunners reached the inaugural national round of 32 in 2014 where they lost on penalties to South Springvale.

Maitland will host either Newcastle University Men’s or Lake Macquarie Junior, while Edgeworth will welcome the winner of Toronto Awaba FC or Dudley Redhead United to Jack McLaughlan Oval.

Broadmeadow Magic face the short trip across town to take on Mayfield United Junior.

There were no matches drawn between NPL Men’s NNSW clubs, though Cooks Hill United and Northern League One club Belmont Swansea United will be able to resume their rivalry when they meet at Fearnley Dawes Athletics Centre.

Round four fixtures are due to be played by 17 April. But with recent wet weather forcing a number of postponements in previous rounds, NNSWF General Manager Football Operations Liam Bentley said his team would work with clubs to ensure matches are played.

There will be seven knockout rounds to decide the two NNSWF representatives that qualify for the national round of 32.
