State Wide Facilities Audit to Launch in April 2018

February 28th, 2018

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) along with Football NSW and Capital Football will be launching a State-Wide Football Facilities Audit in April 2018.

This initiative is designed to establish and provide an important insight into current and future trends as well as facility demands.

The audit will ultimately guide the development of strategies and lobby government to ensure football facilities are developed to help improve the quality and experience of playing football to sustain and increase participation.

Increasing the quality and capacity of a facility encourages more people to improve their physical and mental health through regular sport.

Supporting clubs, zones, local councils and other stakeholders to deliver these environments is critical to their and NNSWF’s success.

NNSWF Chief Executive Officer David Eland said NNSWF has identified the audit of football facilities throughout Northern NSW as one of this year’s most important strategic initiatives.

“The data obtained from the audit will empower NNSWF to specifically identify gaps and subsequently propose where Local Government Authorities and the State Government should deploy resources,” Eland said.

“The development of safe, welcoming and sustainable facilities is crucial to the provision of an enjoyable football experience. The Facilities Audit will also be utilised by NNSWF to prioritise the allocation of grants from the newly established NNSWF Facilities Fund,” Eland concluded.

The Football Facilities audit will be completed primarily by Zone and Northern NSW Football staff via an online digitalised system capturing data anywhere, anytime.

This initiative will help Zones and Member Clubs better understand what facilities they have and the opportunities that may exist for them to access improvement and developing funding from Local, State and Federal Government.

At present, the data capturing system is in the final stages of its construction and it is envisaged a full rollout of the audit will take place from April 2018.  The audit is expected to capture over 1, 100 facilities throughout NSW and ACT.
